Movie Review: Bad Teacher

I'm not in any way a person who expects too much in every piece of cinema I watch - especially under this genre - but I do expect "something" and that I didn't get in Bad Teacher. Seriously. What was the point of this movie?

I mean, the plot was paper thin and poorly executed, the directing was sloppy and the jokes weren't even close to funny. I laughed maybe three times - and I'm being generous here - throughout the whole movie. There were a lot of jokes, but most of them fell flat and just went over my head.

The other problem I had with Bad Teacher was the fact that every single character in the movie was pretty much unlikeable. Really. Lucy Punch's character was just plain irritating, Justin Timberlake started out as a refreshing contrast to the lead, but became equally unpleasant towards the second half of the film.

And then, there was Cameron Diaz's character, who wasn't even remotely likable in ANY way! Sure, she was supposed to be a nasty piece of work - that's the premise - but come on!! She lied and cheated, and yet she got away with everything and even destroyed the life of another character who actually cares. And that's what we're supposed to root for? Downright dumb!

Sadly, there's no redeeming qualities to the film. Maybe Jason Segel? I don't know.

Overall, I thought Bad Teacher was pointless. I mean, if you have a by-the-numbers plot, annoying performances, and a been-there-done-that tone, then what's the point of making a movie? It's not even THAT entertaining. A lackluster effort which was dumb, disappointing, and decidedly demented.

 RATING: 3/10

The problem with that movie is that Cameron Diaz is the lead. Have you ever remember a movie where she is the lead? I can only remember Charlie's Angles and it's Drew that I always pay attention to.
She's not that great of an actress.
Of course, I haven't watched that movie but I don't think I should bother..
