Movie Review: Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters

A modern retelling of a classic fairy tale can always go either way, but while Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters didn't break any boundaries in film making, this was actually a good piece of entertainment. No ground was broken, the characters were one dimensional, and the story was typical and full of cliches, but to me, that didn't matter in the slightest way. It should be judged primarily on how well they were able to hold up to the promise of what they're trying to be, and this campy, action packed gore-fest succeeded on that. The cinematography was sweeping, crisp editing, fantastic action sequences, and an indelible sense of coolness. Don't expect for something profound, this isn't Life of Pi. 7.5
