American Idol 12: Top 9 Results Show

Paul Jolley. Nailed it yet again! Not much to say, really. I’m pretty sure we had all come to the conclusion, barring an outrageous shock elimination, that Paul Jolley would be shown the door this week. His performance was decent, but it wasn't memorable enough to make an impression to the voting public. He was part of the Bottom 3 last week and with Devin having a slight rebound last night, there's no way Paul will be able to survive this week.

Oh, and it finally happened. There are officially NO white guy on the show. The streak has ended and in fact, this is the first time in the history of American Idol that there isn’t one white male in the Top 8. Wow

NEXT WEEK'S THEME: Motown.

SAFE
Lazaro Arbos
Kree Harrison
Candice Glover
Angie Miller
Janelle Arthur
Burnell Taylor

BOTTOM 3
Devin Velez
Amber Holcomb

ELIMINATED
Paul Jolley

True. Idol has this trend though that seasons divisible by 3 are probably it's weakest. Season 3, 6, 9 and now, 12. Sad.

I don't understand why everybody (including you, Dam) keeps focusing on the race thing on Idol. Always with "first season without black girls" for last year and the "White guy with guitar" - none of the guys who won since season 7 are similar in their post-idol music career, so why try and make it a thing? If someone can sing, they'll be on Idol. if they can't sing they won't be, regardless of their color or whatever.

Not for anything, but I love to observe trends - obviously. That's why I brought it up. It's an interesting trivia and that's just about it. What's wrong with putting that FACT up? It's not as if I'm dismissing a race or something. When ALL the guys are gone and we're left with 5 girls, I can immediately say that "this is the first season without guys in the Top 5". Does that make me a sexist? IT'S A FACT. Deal with it.

Also, "If someone can sing, they'll be on Idol. if they can't sing they won't be, regardless of their color or whatever." Is that the reason Lazaro is still in the competition and other superior vocal talents are already gone? Just saying.

Oh, and one more thing. "none of the guys who won since season 7 are similar in their post-idol music career, so why try and make it a thing" I don't, but the trend is - and it's a FACT - white guys with guitar won the competition for the past 5 years. It's an observation I made and I wanted that to share with the readers of the blog. Heck, I didn't even say anything about the genre of the people who won.

2 out of 2 predictions. Nice Dam!

I'm so sad that Amber was in the bottom 3. I know she sang a not so popular song but she did good. She probably doesn't have a strong fan base unlike other contestants who continuously give us mediocre performances but still manages to land in the top 5...hi Lazaro!

Destinycayin: Actually, I've been spot on this season. Got to predict the Top 10 (5 girls and 5 boys) and also Curtis and Paul's elimination. Meaning, this season's way too predictable. HAHA.

But yeah. It's sad to see Amber in the Bottom 3. It sucks and yes, the backlash for Lazaro will begin if he outlasts a more talented singer.
