X Factor US 3: Live Auditions Part 2

Somehow, I felt like this season of X Factor has finally hit the right notes, but with two terrible seasons, everything seemed too little too late. America have given up, which is such as shame as this panel of judges have been pretty impressive.

Of course, Demi Lovato is a firecracker with her infectious laugh, and Kelly Rowland is everything! Haha. I loved her almost immediately. Her warmth is appealing, she's not hogging all the attention, and she's pretty funny. As for Paulina Rubio, she's not my favorite, but she's holding her own.

The contestants, on the other hand, have been pretty good for the most part and I have a couple of people to hate, which is always interesting. Anyway, let's get on with the auditions no?

Rylie Brown
Clarity
She has a sweet voice, but I don't think she's ready to compete. Her version of Clarity had a couple of pitch issues, she flub the lyrics, and she seemed too passive in her performance. I think she's a nice girl, but I just don't see her winning the show. 5

Jeff Brinkman
You Are So Beautiful
Seriously? What were the judges thinking when they let him through? Yes, his tone is pretty, but his phrasing was TERRIBLE. 4

Rachel Potter
Somebody To Love
Minus the shrill in her voice when she tried to hit the high notes, Rachel was actually pretty great. She has a strong voice with great vocal control, good range and interesting tone. Plus, she made it look so easy. Very nice. 8

Jorge Pena
? Spanish Song
Eh. His vocals were boring and uninteresting. But what made him stick was his annoying attitude. Oh, Paulina took him down a big notch, which was pretty compelling to watch. Haha. 3

Simone Torres
Mustang Sally
Unbelievable! Like Simon, I didn't really care much about her, but when she opened her mouth to sing, I instantly became a fan. She has this excellent alto tone that was pure divine, she navigated the song like a pro, and she has this fun demeanor to her. Rooting for her! 9

Roxxxy Montana
One Night
When they were singing with a track, they sounded horrible. But the acappela performance made me want to listen to them more. Their harmonies were tight and I found their vocal stylings pretty nice. 7

Al Calderon
Sarah's Smile
Not impressed with this guy, but then again, I'm not a teenage girl. Haha. 6

Denise Weeks
The Greatest Love Of All
Decent, but can't we not choke the life out of Whitney Houston's songs! Seriously. 6.5
