The Voice 5: Battle Rounds Part 2

After such a high from yesterday, The Voice served us lightweight performances and a couple of annoying montages. There were still some good ones, but overall, a little underwhelming episode. Oh, and I don't get these coaches. They managed to steal mediocre ones from yesterday and not steal the obviously good ones. What gives?

Anyway, let's get on with the Battle Round!

Matthew Schuler VS Jacob Poole

My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark

A Fallout Boy song on a reality singing competition? YES! This battle was actually pretty good. It's totally relevant and both guys sounded amazing despite jumping around on stage. Vocally, Jacob sounded more convincing, but I was equally impressed with Matthew as he held his own considering that this wasn't even his genre. Plus, I felt like he had more control over his voice and his deep tone was gorgeous. I was hoping somebody would pick up Jacob though.

Kat Robichaud VS R. Anthony

I Don't Want To Miss A Thing

Ugh. Can we just send this song to space along with the asteroid that it was written for? Why do they keep on picking songs that have been covered a million times already? This song is SO dragging that it was actually a waste by giving this piece of crap song to Kat - or even R. Anthony. I prefer Kat during her Blind audition, but she has a much more interesting voice than R. Anthony, which sounded generic.

Monika Leigh VS Ray Boudreaux

Some Kind Of Wonderful

I was totally on Monika's bandwagon, but Ray won me over. Monika's pitch sounded off in parts and seemed a little timid, but her voice was soulful enough to be different. Ray, on the other hand, just slayed the song. He has this wonderful tone that's both smooth and gritty. Plus, his runs were fantastic.
